For My Baby Niece and Nephew...

It’s anarchy in the pre-K as Farmer Jason harvests another bumper crop of sillybilly songs that rock harder than the terrible twos. After captivating ankle-biters and parents alike with his 2003 debut, A Day At The Farm With Farmer Jason, Jason Ringenberg – of Jason and the Scorchers fame – returns with an infectious concept album for the young and young at heart. Kid Rhino fires up the tune tractor for an album filled with stick-in-your-head hooks and subtle life lessons with Rockin’ In The Forest With Farmer Jason. The album, and the reissue of A Day At The Farm With Farmer Jason, will be available September 26.

Produced by George Bradfute, Rockin’ In The Forest With Farmer Jason contains 11 tracks that make it easy for both kids and parents to listen to the same music. Stylistically free ranging, the album shifts seamlessly from high energy punk rock to spaced out jazz. Farmer Jason—with producer Bradfute and studio ace Fats Kaplin—pull out crazy oddball guitars, Turkish ouds, and instruments with no legitimate names to give the album’s production ethos a quality that can stand next to any adult “hipper than thou” indie rock or alternative country release.

The Secret Science of Sleep

To address the widespread problem of common sleep disorders, Smash Arts, in a joint venture with Rhino Entertainment, will release the 2-CD set, Bedtime Beats: The Secret to Sleep -- the first-ever all classical music package created in response to an investigational study supporting classical music as a sleep remedy -- on September 12, 2006. The results of a National Institute of Health study were published as "Music Improves Sleep Quality in Older Adults" (Journal of Advanced Nursing, 49 (3), February 2005, p.234-244). The study found that soothing music -- specifically music with a tempo of 60-80 beats per minute (BPM) -- resulted in significantly better sleep quality, better perceived sleep quality, longer sleep duration, greater sleep efficiency, and more.

In creating Bedtime Beats, Cindy Bressler and Lisa Mercurio of Smash Arts selected music of the same tempo of 60-80 BPM. This first installment of Bedtime Beats series comprises over 120 minutes of classical music that meets this criterion and includes works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Puccini, and others. To make the CDs as soothing as possible, the music was meticulously mastered to reduce variations in tempo and volume. People of all ages can benefit from the package, provided they listen daily for at least two weeks at the outset and begin listening to the CDs at least 15 minutes before bedtime.

King Solomon of Nashville

The King of Rock and Soul—SOLOMON BURKE—completes his 21st Century trilogy of classic music with a 14 song CD of poignant country songs--aptly titled Nashville. Fittingly, the release was produced in Nashville by Grammy®-nominated, revered songwriter, musician and producer Buddy Miller. This collection of earnest, passionate, uplifting, joyous and sometimes mournful tracks will be released on Shout! Factory September 26th, Burke’s second recording for the label. Nashville has both the vintage feel of his early recordings melded with his most recent, yet the album is like nothing Burke has ever done before.

On duets with Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Patty Loveless, Burke’s voice is as masterful and heartrending as on his two most recent critically acclaimed CDs, Shout! Factory’s Make Do With What You Got and the Grammy® Award-winning Don’t Give Up On Me. The 14 tracks are written by a diverse mix of songwriters including Bruce Springsteen, the aforementioned Parton, previously unreleased songs written by Patty Griffin and Gillian Welch (on which they both contribute background vocals on their respective cuts), as well as producer Buddy and his wife Julie Miller, Tom T. Hall, George Jones, Jim Lauderdale, Don Williams and Kevin Welch, among others. (Full track listing at the end of the release.)

Burke once again delivers inspirational and astonishing interpretations as only he can to this amalgam of eclectic songs--from his spirited rendition of Springsteen’s “Ain’t Got You,” to his plaintive vocals on Miller’s sparse arrangement of the opening track “That’s How I Got to Memphis,” to the honky tonk feel of Lauderdale’s “Seems Like You’re Gonna Take Me Back,” to Reverend Burke’s visceral vocals leading into a heartbreaking mandolin solo on Williams “Atta Way To Go.”

Kingsryche!

Queensrÿche recorded its seventh studio album in 1999 during a time of uncertainty. Emotionally devastated by the departure of one of its founding guitarists, the Seattle-based, progressive-metal quintet was also reeling from the twin losses of its management group and record company. Despite the chaos, Queensrÿche returned stronger than ever with an album that marked a new beginning. Rhino Records revisits the band's triumph of will with the remastered and expanded version of Q2K. The album will be available August 29th; the iTunes version of the album will also feature an interactive booklet with the exclusive video for "The Right Side Of My Mind."

The release of Q2K continues an ambitious year for Queensrÿche, which includes the April release of the long-awaited sequel Operation: mindcrime II, which debuted at #14 in the Billboard Top 200. In addition, the band embarks on an extensive summer/fall tour in August. Presented by VH1 Classic, the epic live show will feature a full stage production, including surround sound, video imagery, and actors playing out both parts of the Operation: mindcrime saga in their entirety.

My Name, Incidentally, is Not Earl

Shout! Factory announces the release of the official soundtrack to the hit television comedy series, “My Name Is Earl.” My Name Is Earl – The Album features brand new, never before released tracks from Matthew Sweet, Uncle Kracker, John Hiatt and rock newcomers Van Nuys, recorded exclusively for the soundtrack. In addition, the album includes some of Earl’s favorite songs used in episodes which aired during the premiere ’05-’06 season. Shout! Factory worked with Earl (Jason Lee) and the show’s creator Greg Garcia to put together the soundtrack, which also includes key sound bytes from the show, and an unheard vocal version of the “My Name Is Earl” theme song. My Name Is Earl – The Album arrives in stores September 19th for the suggested retail price of $18.98.

My Name Is Earl – The Album was conceived as a gift from Earl to his brother Randy. As Earl writes in the booklet, “Some of the songs are ones that kinda play in my head sometimes when we’re walking around and stuff. There’s a bunch on here. Those CD’s can hold a lot.” Earl continues, “We put on some Skynyrd, Jerry Reed, that rap song that is B-7 on the Crab Shack juke box, I even found a song called ‘Joy’.” Uncle Kracker covers The Band’s “The Weight,” Matthew Sweet rocks out to Electric Light Orchestra’s “Livin’ Thing,” and John Hiatt recorded a rollicking, garage rock-inspired version of John Lennon’s “Instant Karma.” Also new is a sinister twisted folk-metal version of Nena’s “99 Red Balloons” recorded by the new, all-star mystery band Van Nuys.

The My Name Is Earl – The Album CD release coincides with the September 19th arrival of the “My Name Is Earl” Season One DVD Collection from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The “My Name Is Earl” Season One DVD collection boasts a hilarious, never-before-seen DVD exclusive short entitled "Bad Karma: An Earl Misadventure," which reveals the twisted path Earl might have taken if he chose NOT to live by the laws of karma. Don't Fear the Cowbell

The 30th anniversary celebration of Electric Light Orchestra’s creation in 1971 – which began in 2001-2001 with the release of the three-CD Flashback box set and digitally remastered (for the first time) expanded editions of Eldorado – A Symphony (1974), Discovery (1979), Time (1981), and Secret Messages (1983) – now turns into their 35th anniversary, with long-awaited expanded editions of the first two ELO albums, NO ANSWER (1971, featuring “10538 Overture”) and ELO 2 (1973, with “Roll Over Beethoven”). They are the first wave of ELO expanded editions on Epic/Legacy that will continue over the course of 2006 with subsequent releases of On The Third Day (1973), Face The Music (1975), A New World Record (1976), Out Of The Blue (1977), and Balance Of Power (1986).

Three and a half decades after the ELO concept first turned on the world to the possibilities of orchestral rock beyond the walls of classical music, Jeff Lynne returns to the original analog master source tapes to complete the first comprehensive album restoration campaign in ELO history. The group thrived for 15 years under Lynne’s guidance, during which time they recorded and released 12 original studio albums and (in the U.K. only) one live LP. At their peak between 1974 and 1981, ELO amassed a string of nine consecutive RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, spanning three different record labels; through 1986 (when Lynne disbanded the group), they charted over two dozen singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including 20 Top 40 hits.

Billy Ray "The Mullet" Cyrus Returns

Billy Ray Cyrus took the music world by storm with his rockin' country. Now, on his newest album, he returns to those Southern rock roots. Wanna Be Your Joe (New Door/UMe), released July 18, 2006, celebrates the joys, heroes and music of a generation that brought together rock and country.

From "Country Music Has The Blues" featuring greats George Jones and Loretta Lynn, "The Freebird Fell" penned with Lynyrd Skynyrd's Artemis Pyle and Ed King, and "The Man," a tribute to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, to the tongue-in-cheek "I Want My Mullet Back," Wanna Be Your Joe is about the life and loves of the average Joe. In fact, one love affair's life cycle is heard in a string of song titles: "Wanna Be,” "I Wouldn't Be Me," "What About Us," "Lonely Wins," "I Wonder," "How've You Been" and "Ole What's Her Name." "Hey Daddy," a poignant and personal song about being a father, finishes out the CD.

Music that rocks and touches emotions, songs that are reverent and some even satirical, and all styles are evident on his latest release, Wanna Be Your Joe. Billy Ray currently appears on Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel hit show starring his real-life daughter, Miley.

Like a Rock (Ohhhhhhhhh like a rock!)

On September 12th, Capitol Records will release Face The Promise, Bob Seger's first studio album in 11 years. Face The Promise opens a masterful new chapter in a songbook that has captured the dreams, ideals, yearnings and truths of the American experience for a remarkable forty years. The album’s lead-off single is entitled “Wait For Me.”

Bob Seger is universally acknowledged by fans and musicians as one of the few truly defining voices of American music. His vivid portraits of working class lives convey the hope and the heartbreak implicit in the American dream. Face The Promise marks Seger’s return in classic form: urgent, honest, rousing, timeless -- a new and compelling testament to rock and roll’s undying redemptive power.

Seger has sold nearly 50 million albums in his career. Among his eleven platinum and seven multi-platinum awards, Against the Wind, Night Moves and Stranger in Town have each been RIAA-certified for over 5 million album sales in the U.S., as has his massively-influential 1976 breakthrough classic, Live Bullet. The 1994 Greatest Hits collection has sold over 7 million copies, in an unbroken 600-week run in the upper reaches of the Billboard Pop Catalog chart. He is a Grammy winner (“Against the Wind,” Best Rock Performance by a Group or Duo, 1980) and a 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Observed through the eyes of the outsider and the everyman, the reveler and the romantic, the songs of Bob Seger exemplify the classic in classic rock: “Against The Wind,“ “Turn The Page,” “Rock And Roll Never Forgets,” “Night Moves,” “Katmandu,” “Old Time Rock and Roll” and ”Beautiful Loser,” to name just a few.
