Rhino Reissues The Pogues
Soulful and soused, usually in equal parts, The Pogues' music combined the youthful spirit of punk with ancient Celtic melodies to create a sublime racket that's been described as the Sex Pistols setting fire to The Chieftains. Rhino Records raises a pint in one hand and a fistful of Pogues in the other with remastered and expanded versions of the band's first five studio albums -- Red Roses For Me, Rum, Sodomy & The Lash (produced by Elvis Costello), If I Should Fall From Grace With God (produced by Steve Lillywhite), Peace & Love (produced by Steve Lillywhite), and Hell's Ditch (produced by Joe Strummer). Each reissued album will be available September 19.

This 1984 release debuted The Pogues' forceful, poetic, and darkly romantic sound. Features "Transmetropolitan," "Streams Of Whiskey," and "Down In The Ground." Six rare bonus tracks include essential Pogues versions of "Muirshin Durkin" and the classic Dubliners foot-stomper "The Wild Rover." An expanded booklet contains complete lyrics, intro essay by filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, and liner notes by Gavin Martin.
